Education in the Province of Ontario is governed by some of the highest standards in the world. Children may receive instructional education from Public School Boards, Separate (Catholic) School Boards, Private Schools, and home schooling.

The principal providers of education in Woodstock are the Thames Valley District School Board (Public) and the London District Catholic School Board.

Nearly 50% of the Woodstock labour force has some form of post secondary education, ranging from trade schools, to colleges, to university degrees.

In addition to The University of Western Ontario, The University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University, Conestoga College and Fanshawe College there are no less than 16 post-secondary education institutions located with a 2-hour drive of Woodstock.

As well as ongoing research at area colleges and universities, the National Research Council's Integrated Manufacturing Technology Institute, a facility established for the research and development of advanced manufacturing technologies.
